Distinguished Professor Dietmar W. Hutmacher and other ARC ITTC Additive Biomanufacturing team members, including Dr Nathan Castro, Dr Marie-Luise Wille and PhD student Sebastian Eggert developed a 3D printed scaffolds to repair large bone defects. The team worked closely with Dr Michael Wagels, the Princess Alexandra plastic surgeon who successfully implanted the scaffold on a young patient who lost the major part of his tibia bone.
