3D printed scaffolds to repair large bone defects from ARC ITTC Additive Biomanufacturing

The team lead by Distinguished Professor Dietmar W. Hutmacher at ARC ITTC Additive Biomanufacturing (Queensland University of Technology) developed 3D printed scaffolds to repair large bone defects in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The team worked closely with Dr Michael Wagels, the Princess Alexandra plastic surgeon who successfully implanted the scaffold on a young patient who lost the major part of his tibia bone.
